Settled in the early 1800s by John Martin, the main streets of Martinborough feed outward from the square.

Martinborough is home to a number of world-class wineries, local restaurants, café’s and the historic Martinborough Hotel along with a host of activities for every taste, whether relaxing with a glass of local wine through to adventure-tourism activities.

Events: In addition to the main event in Martinborough – Toast Martinborough, which is held in November each year, other activities include wine & olive tasting, mountain bike hire, golf, quad bike hire, horse riding, a modern Stonehenge, hot-air ballooning and Cape Palliser Lighthouse (40 min by car), and many others
